Our newest museum addition is a 1941 Consolidated Vultee BT-13A. According to information found at the BT-13.org website, there were approximately 11,537 of these produced. Yet, only about 40 or so are still flying.
The powerplant is a Pratt & Whitney R-985-T3B Wasp Jr. radial rated at 450 hp. Apparently due to the plane's tendency to shake quite violently as it approached a stall, the plane
quickly got the nickname of "Vibrator."
We'll try to get museum pilot's initial impressions of this plane as they get checked out in the "Vibrator."
