Sanke Cards

Need picture!

Sanke Cards are German post cards made in Berlin bearing the photo of German, Austro-Hungarian, Bulgarian, and Turkish war pilots and were enthusiastically collected by students and patriotic individuals.  Some would send the cards to the heroes to have the post card autographed, and these are quite rare.

This is a rare and unique collection of Sanke cards originally from the collection of Sigmund Nebenzahl and his cousin, Solomon Mandelberg, who were schoolboys living in Vienna, Austria during the Great War, 1914-1918.  There are 32 cards in the collection.  Included with this collection are newspaper articles: notices of death of von Richthofen, Voss, von Tutchek, Muller, and Dossenbach
