Lt Norman Cooper

73rd Squadron, R.F.C.

Need picture!

An American, whose real name was E.S. Tooker, he served with the 3rd Canadian Divisional Supply Column as a private from June 1916 until August 1917, when he decided to join the RFC. Following training, he went to the 73rd Squadron, flying Camels until the end of the war, receiving a DFC. He took part in many low level ground attacks and the recommendation for his award credited him with eight victories.

Look closely at his overseas cap and you will notice that the top button is an American button. Cooper sewed this on his cap to denote that he was an American.
