Ensign Henry Forster

A graduate of Harvard College in 1910, Henry Forster joined the New York National Guard in 1911 and participated in the Mexican Border Patrol of 1916. He enlisted in the French Foreign Legion on 12 June 1917, transferred to the Aviation Service and was brevetted a pilot the 31st of October, 1917.

At that time, Sergeant Forster was transferred to the French Escadrille Spad 15 where he served until he was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Naval Air Service on July, 19, 1918. While with Spad 15, he participated in the Ainse-Marne and the Montdidier-Noyon defensives.

Henry Forster was one of the surviving members of the LaFayette Flying Corps to attend the final reunion in 1983 that was organized by Jim Parks.

His Grandson, Nick Forster, lives in Boulder, Colorado, where he and his wife host the popular syndicated radio show “E-Town”.
