1ST Lt Earl J. Keenan

6th, 24th & 26th Balloon Company

Lieutenant Keenan enlisted in the Army Field Artillery. He was assigned 6th Balloon Company August 1918 and then transferred to the 24th Balloon Company in October of 1918. He was made Commanding Officer 26th Balloon Company in December 1918.

Balloons were used throughout W.W.I for observation and were considered one of the more dangerous postings.

Keenan was a football star at Villanova and was very active in coaching football teams after the cessation of hostilities in France and Germany. His team won the championship for the Army of Occupation in the spring of 1919.
